It Feels Good

Sun May 11, 2008, 10:04 PM
I had the fortune of being in the News again with :icontoy-camera:'s first article [link] and I couldn't be more thrilled. My first time being in the news was for color. This time it's for black and white.

I was also included in :iconpahness:'s journal [link] for X-Ray Vision:

So a special thank you to :icontoy-camera: and :iconpahness:. I don't know where I'd be without support from the community.

Of Woes and Whoas

Mon Apr 14, 2008, 6:15 PM

I recently dropped my laptop which had all of my files on it. Only a few were on disc so I'm ... what's the word? Distraught? Yes. I'm pretty distraught about that. I do have my film still so when I get my new laptop on Thursday I can rescan and re-edit to the best of my abilities.

This is horrific.

In better news, I have a potential buyer for some of my works and he can set me up with a darkroom. Business would be good right now. Laptops aren't cheap.

I also just bought an allegedly mint condition 'never-used' vintage Diana from a reputable e-bay seller. We'll see how it goes but I'm excited so far. I didn't even have to pay for it. My mother loves my nature work so much she wants me to carry two cameras out each time I go - one with color and one with bl/wh so I can get the same shot with two different feels. Good job, mother. :)

So that's my update for the week. One laptop complete with all files gone, one buyer and one Diana camera gained. I have mixed feelings about how this adds up. Maybe having been wiped clean will give me the chance to start fresh just like with the rest of my life right now. New job, new living arrangements, new marital status, new job, new photography, new ... life? Why that'd be delightful, thank you.

I wrote an awkward little song from the poem I posted if anyone cares to give it a listen: [link]

And, as always, I want to thank you for supporting my works. Thank you thank you.

Just Gratitude For You All

Wed Apr 9, 2008, 7:09 AM
I've recently been featured in the news: [link] for Sparerod Bayou v 2.0 and I cannot tell you how elated this made me feel. Some things in life are crumbling, others are going very well. I'm focusing on you, very well things [sic].

I was also lovely Vickstar's :iconvickstar: featured artist in her journal which had me overjoyed: [link]

And then another wonderful surprise journal feature by bitterev :iconbitterev: that had a lovely display of gloomy looking structures including my bridge photo:

I want to extend my gratitude to everyone who included me in these and also to everyone who has been kind enough to add my work or add me as their friend. I am so sorry that I haven't been sending thank-yous. I've been having to pack up my stuff from my soon-to-be ex-husband's apartment as he is moving out at the end of the month and I don't want to come find a lock on the door. These are excuses but the point is ...

Thank you to everyone. I appreciated it every time I see a new message that says my work has been added or someone has commented. It helps me keep things in perspective. I'll be back to myself soon enough, lovelies. And I have some new work coming this next week and I can only hope it competes with and exceeds my past work!

Again, thank you for the support!

An edit for 11 April:

CBJJBC :iconcbjjbc: has featured me and another fellow (very talented) named Mike in his journal today as well! Check out his work. It reminds me of a cross between older Tool videos and visualizations of Gaiman ... but much lovelier. I wish I could visit instead of witness.

Omens, Divorce, Gratitude

Wed Apr 2, 2008, 4:34 AM

Lately I've had a surge in what to me seems like a load of popularity and I'm terribly sorry I haven't been able to thank each and every one of you. It's against my upbringing and I feel horrid about it.

I asked my husband for a divorce yesterday. Our marriage hasn't been a good one for many reasons, none of which I'll go into here, and it has kept me from living life. I hope that, when I am free, I will be a much kinder, more talented artist. I wish him the best, as well.

Please forgive me my thoughtlessness. I've stepped in a wasps' nest over here.
